Bed and Breakfast Inn Description
Friday Harbor is an eclectic and charming village located on San Juan Islandin the northern Puget Sound. The
village offers over 30 dining establishments, including fine dining,
bistros, snack bars, ice cream parlors and a
cosmopolitan deli/grocery/wine store. The most surprising find is the Cafe
Paradise, a 3-star bistro featuring
excellent food and service at a modest price, located in the island bowling
alley. Living up to the appellation "A
really big small town", the village has shops selling almost everything -
souvieneers, clothing, jewelry, painting,
sculpture and more.
There are an astounding number of marine attractions, including Orca
whale/minke whale/porpoise/seal/sea lion/otter
watching from boats or land, kayaking, fishing, and scuba diving. Wildlife
abounds, with deer, fox, wild turkey,
rabbits and raccoons. The birds are everywhere - bald eagles, ducks,
Canadian geese, great blue herons, hawks,
hummingbirds, ospreys, peregrine falcons, trumpeter swans, woodpeckers,
cormorants, sea gulls and more. There are
no poisonous snakes, or other dangerous animals.
Although there is no public transportation, the island has comprehensive
private transporation, such as Island
Transit, which tours the island several times a day, and Friday Harbor Taxi,
which provides taxi service and custom
tours to all of the island. Rental mopeds, cars and bicycles are also
available.
Attractions include a 19 acre sculpture garden, a 9/18 hole golf course,
tennis, museums, Island farmers raise
sheep, goats, horses, cattle, llamas, alpacas, rabbits, and fowl. There are
herb, vegetable, flower, lavender farms
and fruit farms that often sell their wares at the Saturday summer market
downtown. We also have a vineyard with a
wine tasting room, and a micro brewery to quench even the fiercest thirst.
Friday Harbor weather is usually beautiful, warm and sunny during Spring,
Summer and Fall. Winter can be cold and
snowy. Whatever season, bring a sweater and a waterproof jacket, just in
