Charlottesville Bed and Breakfasts are all unique and lovely. With Jefferson's home Monticello and the university he founded, University of Virginia, and many wineries, it is a popular destination for travelers.
The Charlottesville Bed and Breakfast selection is varied and every one is unique. We have historical B&Bs, and more recently-built spa-orientated B&Bs.
To stay in a historical Charlottesville bed and breakfast is to step back into time - treading where the famous once stood. It is a lovely experience to stay and dine in a living antique.
On the other hand, a more recently build Charlottesville bed and breakfast such as Arcady Vineyard has its own charm as well. These B&Bs have the room to offer spa-like amenities such as whirlpool tubs and steam showers.
There are many wonderful restaurants and shops througout the area. But if you don't feel like driving, just park your car at the downtown walking mall and stroll around by foot for your shopping and dining pleasure. If you are here on Saturday, visit the Farmer's Market just a block off the downtown mall on Water Street. They have not only fruits and plants but freshly brewed coffee, breakfast and lunch offerings, and artwork. This market runs until noon.
Visit Monticello, Jefferson's home, and Ashlawn-Highland, Monroe's home, where, during July and August there is live opera and musicals performed outdoors. And just north of Charlottesville about a 40 minute drive is Madison's home Montpelier.
And when you have had enough of history and need to just kick back with a beautiful countryside view, be sure to get a picnic basket at Feast! or Brix, two wonderful gourmet stores, and visit one of our many wineries which almost all have outdoor tables where you can enjoy a Chardonnay, Viognier, or Cabernet Franc, just to name a few!
