American and English antiques are in a Colonial setting—no clutter!—created and re-created by Chapin, a skilled woodworker who was a Connecticut life insurance executive until 1980. To the 165-year-old farmhouse he has built an addition, "one that still allows us to stay small so that we can continue to provide surprises for our guests." Candle lights are in every window. Hardware is fashioned by son Jeff, a blacksmith. Another son, Eric, created detailed handcrafted wooden items. Dried flower wreaths, hand-painted wood and tin items, even thimbles are examples of Joan's artistry. This artistic, historic Weston bed and breakfast is one great place for a family vacation with children of all ages.
