New Hope is a small southeast Pennsylvania river town located on the banks of the Delaware River opposite Lambertville, New Jersey. Founded in the 1600's by William Penn, New Hope, tho small in sixe, has a big reputation as an antique center, artists' colony with fine dining and an outstanding nightlife and live entertainment mecca. New Hope Bed and Breakfast is defined by the Wedgwood Inn of New Hope. Set on 2 park like acres yet just steps from the village square, Wedgwood has played a vital part in New Hope's history. The original house, c 1740, served as a Headquarter's House for General Washington's Continental Army for six years during the American Revolutionary War. Later, it served as a safe house on the UnderGround Railroad, sheparding newly freed slaves to saftey further North. The New Hope Bed and Breakfast inn we see today was rebuilt in 1870 on top of the foundation of the original 1740 structure. Wedgwood Inn has served the business and leisure traveller to New Hope for over 26 years under the watchful eyes of Nadine and Carl Glassman.
