Historic Idleyld Park, located about 20 miles east of Roseburg, is one of the first settlements in the area to have its own post office. There is only one Idleyld Park bed and breakfast in the town proper. The large lodge building was one of the original buildings and was first used as a gathering place for people fishing at THE NARROWS, a naturally formed basalt chute in the North Umpqua river that narrows the river down to only a few feet across. In the 1920's Idleyld Park was developed into a recreational and amusement park (thus the name Idleyld PARK!) complete with a ferris wheel, carousel, camp sites along the river, cabins in the woods AND an open air dance pavillion which later was enclosed to become the first Idleyld Park bed and breakfast. BACK THEN YOU COULD RENT A ROOM FOR $2.00 PER NIGHT! There was also a store and soon to follow, a post office. The store, bed and breakfast, and post office are still in operation today. Flyfishing the world class North Umpqua river for Steelhead and Chinook salmon, hiking the North Umpqua Trail, white-water rafting, viewing the twenty or so waterfalls, swimming, bird and wildlife watching, mountain biking, trail riding and auto or motorcyle touring the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway are just a few of the recreational adventures to explore while visiting our area and enjoying your relaxing stay in the only Idleyld Park bed and breakfast in town. AND DON'T FORGET CRATER LAKE, DIAMOND LAKE, WILDLIFE SAFARI, SEVEN FEATHERS CASINO, AND THE OREGON COAST ARE ONLY AN HOUR OR SO AWAY! ENJOY!!!!!!
