The upstate New York, Adirondack town of Schroon Lake is a quiet, little country town whose population swells during the summer months. It is located between Exits 27 and 28 of I87, the Adirondack Northway. Schroon Lake is a 9 mile long lake with majestic Adirondack mountain views and sparkling, clean water. The lifeguared town beach is sandy and perfect for children and, like the boat launch, fishing dock, tennis courts and Wednesday night square dances, is free. The town also operates a 9 hole golf course that is open to all. The village has quaint pubs, unique restaurants, antique stores, coffee shops, gift stores, a grocery store, an original Art Deco movie theater, churches and the hub of the Word of Life organization. There are several Schroon Lake Bed and Breakfast Inns and family operated motels. There are local campsites and hiking and the High Peaks are easily accessible. Our summer theater, the Seagle Colony, offers top-quality opera and other musical performances throughout the summer season. The Arts Council also presents entertainment for the summer. Our local a]uctions attract quiet a crowd and we have a buffalo farm. Perfect day trips could include Saratoga, Lake George, Lake Placid, Montreal, Fort Ticonderoga, the Adirondack Museum and Vermont.
