Beyond building four charming Inns, the owners of the Inns have also been involved in many additional town improvements, including the purchase of an unsightly gas station and its renovation in the style of a 1940s country filling station, complete with a clapboard-sided store. In addition, two of the principals in Hampshire Hospitality Holdings purchased the M/S Mount Washington in the mid 1980s, completely renovated the 230-foot cruise ship, and introduced Meredith as a scheduled port in 2001.
