Vicksburg is a historic city located on bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River between Louisiana and Mississippi. The site of the famous Civil War battle and seige, Vicksburg was surrounded by Union troops from May 18th to July 4th 1863 and many of its residents hid in makeshift caves during this time. Vicksburg is filled with historic structures and bed and breakfasts inns: some are antebellum and some are more recent structures, all of them are very southern and welcoming. In the fall and the spring, the Vicksburg bed and breakfasts open their homes to visitors for Pilgrimage tours. The Vicksburg military park, museums, riverboat rides,antiques, art galleries, bed and breakfasts, historic downtown and casinos provide several days of entertainment for visitors.
