This Long Beach, MS Bed and Breakfast was the MS Gulf Coast's first; established in 1986. Eventually, there were about twenty, but hurricane Katrina knocked out all but five, so this Long Beach, MS Bed and Breakfast is now the only authentic one left in Long Beach.
Long Beach is centrally located, with Pass Christian, Bay St. Louis and Waveland to its west, and Gulfport, Biloxi and Ocean Springs to its east. New Orleans is
about sixty-five miles west of Long Beach, and Mobile is about eighty miles east. The MS Coast's twenty-six miles of beach begins about four miles south of this
Long Beach, MS bed and breakfast.
There are nearly a dozen casions, more than a dozen golf courses, hundreds of charter fishing boats, a
coliseum, several shopping malls (including an outlet mall at Gulfport), Navy SeaBee and Air Forces Bases,
a shipyard, and the Stennis Space Center.
Barnes & Noble has a 70,000 sq. ft. store, and the Sports Academy is nearby. The University of Southern
Mississippi has a degree-granting extension (Gulf Park)
at Long Beach, and there are three branches of the MS
Gulf Coast Community College District (Perkinston, Jefferson Davis and Jackson County). Several private colleges also have campuses on the MS Gulf Coast, including William Carey and Tulane.
The MS Gulf Coast is famous for its ancient live oaks
and abundant seafood. Most trees made it through Katrina, and the restaurants are rebuilding, even as new ones spring up. Emeril has a new restaurant opening in Biloxi.
