The Lathrop House is proud to be the longest extant Springfield Bed and Breakfast. Known as "the city in the country," Springfield is the perfect hop-off point to visit the Berkshires, go boating on the CT River, hiking on Mt. Holyoke, skiing and playing tennis for free across the street in Forest Park, a 735-acre treasure of hiking and nature trails, duck ponds, rose and Japanese gardens, zoo and covered bridge. From our Springfield Bed and Breakfast, you can also see why this is called the "City of Homes". Stroll our quiet, safe Victorian neighborhood known as the "cozy corner," where the former mayor lives a block away. Take in the gracious architecture and admire the "painted ladies," browse the Farmers' market, and visit museums close by such as the Mark Twain, Harriet Beecher Stowe and Emily Dickinson House Museums. Springfield has its own symphony (conducted by world class Kevin Rhodes), theater venues and blues and dancing clubs as well as adult entertainment and fine dining in flavors from around the world. From our Springfield Bed and Breakfast, you can also visit some of the attractions that made Springfield's place in history; Dr. Seuss sculpture garden, the Springfield Armory and Smith and Wesson showcase, and the Basketball Hall of Fame and of course Six Flags New England and the Big E, the regional New England Fair that showcases all the states produce and wares for three weeks in September-six state fairs rolled into one! Springfield is one hour from Albany, an hour and a half from Boston, and two and a half hours from NYC. Accessible by Peter Pan Bus and Amtrak which have stations right in downtown, it is also 20 minutes from Bradley International Airport, a quiet, clean and modern facility on served by all major US airlines and KLM.
