Experience the leisurely ambience and delightful charm of the Cliff Lodge as a special place that always beckons you to return. Built in 1771 by a sea captain, occupied for a half century by Nantucket’s leading female poet, and recently restored to its former lustre, the inn combines the charm and romance of a bygone era with all the comforts of home. With its many comfortable gathering areas, its fireplaces, the luxury of its rooms, its peaceful garden patio, and of course its spacious roof walk offering panoramic views of the town and the harbor, the Cliff Lodge is a place of easy elegance that can make you forget that you have ever worked for a living. We serve a bountiful continental breakfast prepared by our pastry chef, featuring her famous homemade granola and scones, another pastry, cereals, fruit, juices, gourmet coffee and tea, each morning. In the afternoon, we serve homemade treats and we are the only inn on Nantucket (other than our sister inn, the Martin House) to offer regularly scheduled afternoon teas. In the heart of Nantucket’s historic district, the inn is just a short walk from all the shops, beaches and restaurants in town. 12 rooms with private baths, air conditioning, televisions and free wireless internet access; many guest rooms with working fireplaces.
