Corea, in which the Black Duck Bed and Breakfast Inn is located is a small fishing village located within the Town of Gouldsboro. Corea is off the beaten path but only about 5 miles from the Schoodic Point section of Acadia National Park with its hiking and biking trails, 6 miles from the village of Winter Harbor and its restaurants and shops, and about 45 minutes from the Mt. Desert (Bar Harbor portion of Acadia National Park). Schoodic Point is a spectacular, fairly unknown, part of Acadia. One can now take a passenger ferry from just outside of Schoodic over to Bar Harbor
The village is also only about 80 miles from Campobello Island, former summer home of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. There are numerous wildlife areas including a new 1,000 acre addition just as one enters Corea. Within short day trips, one can find other wildlife areas such as Petite Manan in Steuben, and the Bold Coast Trails, just outside of Cutler.
Corea Harbor, which the Black Duck Bed and Breakfast overlooks, is perhaps one of the most beautiful and photographed harbors in Maine; largely unchanged over the years. The harbor is very protected, but one can see open ocean and the crashing waves just beyond. The village is in it is at the very tip of the Schoodic Peninsula
Corea has only a post office, a lobster cooperative, a small art gallery, crafts and book store in addition to the Black Duck Bed and Breakfast. Otherwise it is a cluster of homes clinging to the rocky shores with the open ocean just beyond.
