Abilene Kansas is located at the junction of I-70 and K-15 Hwy, once known at the Chisholm Trail. Abilene got it's start as a cattle town as the cowboys drove the cattle up the trail from Texas to the railroad. Abilene has been the home to President Dwight D. Eisenhower and his Presidential Museum and Library are open to the public. At the turn of the 20th century, CW Parker was building carousels in Abilene and you can ride one today at the Heritage Museum. The Lebold and Seelye Mansions offer a wonderful opportunity to step back and see how early Abilene citizens lived.
While in the Abilene area there are several historic Bed and Breakfasts to provide midwest hospitality to travelers. These bed and breakfasts specialize in upscale breakfasts to create a memorable experience for their guests.
For those travelers that would like to understand the community there are Historic Trolly Rides and don't forget to make a stop at the Russell Stover Candy Factory!
