Middlebury, Indiana is a quaint town in the heart of Northern Indiana Amish Country and also the home of the famous Patchwork Quilt Country Inn, the area’s oldest Bed and Breakfast. The Patchwork Quilt, located on 18 acres north of Middlebury, has been operating since 1962 and specializes in group functions, which can be set up to include events and attractions from the local area.
The nearby towns of Shipshewana and Nappanee feature attractions like the famous Flea Market and Amish Acres. Middlebury, Indiana is just south of the Indiana Toll Road, Interstate 80/90, so it’s very convenient for travelers. Middlebury, Indiana is only 2 hours from downtown Chicago and just 30 minutes from the University of Notre Dame and South Bend, Indiana.
Middlebury has a restored and tree lined downtown which features great shopping, bed and breakfasts and you will also see horse drawn Amish buggies. Many quilt shops, bed & breakfasts and furniture shops are nearby, as well as fantastic restaurants. Middlebury is also home of Das Dutchman Essenhaus, Jayco, Coachmen and many RV related businesses. Elkhart County, Indiana, where Middlebury is located, is known as the Recreational Vehicle Capital of the world. There are also several modular home manufacturers in the area such as Crest Homes and Four Seasons.
Yearly, Middlebury sponsors its Summer Fest in August and the Middlebury Fall Festival in September. Summer Fest features a parade down Main Street along with games and booths. The Fall Festival, organized by the Middlebury Chamber of Commerce, is known for its local entertainment, great crafts and selection of foods from the area.
