The town of Wauconda was organized in the year of 1849, by a vote of the people of the County to divide said County into towns. Wauconda is located in the southeastern part of Wauconda Township on the banks of a beautiful little lake which has from earliest times been known as Bangs Lake, named in honor of Justus and Mark Bangs, the first settlers of the place. Old Victorian Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast is just steps away from beautiful Bangs Lake where you can enjoy boating, fishing, swimming and more.

Located on the corner of Main St. and Wilton Rd. is the Old Victorian Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast predating 1860. As one of the original homesteads in Wauconda, the home boasts a rich history of the area and home owners. Part of that history includes a dairy farm selling ice cream and milk out of the barn, important family members involved in local and national community efforts, and owners of the Hi Low Grocery Stores in Chicago.
Local community events include Civil War Days, Wauconda Rodeo, Holiday Walk in December and Farmers Market in the Summer.
