Bruce Goff Castle BandB is but several miles to the town of Cobden, (Illinois) which has bars, pizza joint, coffee shop, catering services with a four star Chef, lundromat, several gas stations, bank, post office and train tracks that runs between the two main roads. Cobden also is in the middle of the Shawnee Wine Trail, in Southern Illinois. But don't forget to check a local gas station having the local highest quality wine produced (restaurant Quality brands 'Stone Creek, Orlandini thats not available on the Shawnee local wine trail). And of course their is always the Cobden Peach Festival where a local queen is chosen yearly. Historically important area in the days of the emergence of Chicago in that the Cobden area served as the bread basket of sorts but most importantly prevented scurvy in the early spring by providing early vegetables to the market up north before the days of ice cooled train cars. Nice community on Shawnee Hills area waiting to be explored and enjoyed. Cobden is located in Union County and has over a dozen other bed and breakfast inns. Cobden is within several miles of Shawnee National Forest and its Giant City Lodge offering 65 buildings are about 8 miles away.
