The small town of Kooskia (KOOSKEY)is located at the confluence of the South & Middle Fork of Idaho's Clearwater River in the foothills of the Bitterroot Mountains. With a town population of only a few hundred people, Kooskia is a supply center for the surrounding sparcely-populated area. Adjacent to the Bitterroot Selway Wilderness area, there is much emphasis on outdoor sports and recreation. Kooskia's location on the newly designated "All American Scenic Byway" (less than 30 in the country)lends an address to the surrounding outfitters, inns, lodges, campgrounds, & motels. In downtown Kooskia there is a grocery store, basic motel, several bars, and a auto suppy store. The surrounding area offers more with fine dining, inns, lodges, world-class campsites, and an area that surprises all that visit. It is one of the few remaining hidden byways of our country.
