Honaunau is a sleepy valley where farmers grow food, Hawaiians fish, and visitors enjoy a laid-back lifestyle that is full of Aloha. There are a few bed and breakfasts, like The Dragonfly Ranch: HEALING ARTS CENTER, gas stations and some fruit stands, coffee tasting, fresh fish store, and gift shops. Not much more. The Honaunau Painted Church is an attraction for many (painted by a Benidictine Monk over 100 years ago. But the Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park at Honaunau Bay is a treasure--a spiritual delight. Hawaiians were absolved of their sins there by kahunas (high priests).
Just above the park and below the church in the Healing Triangle, is the Dragonfly Ranch--voted #1 bed and breakfast in West Hawaii by readers of West Hawaii Today. Tourists are welcome to drop by the Dragonfly Ranch to walk the colorful labyrinth--and stay awhile!
