The nearest town to our bed and breakfast is Captain Cook, about 4.5 miles north on Hwy 11. After Captain Cook there are three more "towns", Kealakekua, Kainaliu and Honalo all kind of running into one another. It is not really fair to talk about Captain Cook without mentioning the others as all four towns really make up one big town! It may not be perfectly clear where one town ends and another begins (there are no signs that clearly indicate one town from the other) but there are some very distinct landmarks that your bed and breakfast hosts can point out to you. We certainly rely on all four towns for most of our needs and we love to send our bed and breakfast guests to shop in this charming local neighborhood. There is nothing commercial, rushed or frenzied about this locale and our "towns" boast a variety of unique pleasures such as museums, galleries, roadside farm fresh corn and fish, live theatre, delicious island style restaurants, used books, new books, healthfood store, coffee roasteries and cafes, unique clothing boutiques and gift shops.
