The Wallingford Victorian Bed and Breakfast sits on North Main Street in the historic town of Wallingford Connecticut . Established in 1670, the town lies amid the rolling hills of south central Connecticut in the Quinnipiac River valley. Wallingford was a stop for travelers going from New Haven just ten miles south to Hartford about fifteem miles to the north. It has been documented that George Washington did indeed travel through Wallingford twice in the 1770's. Now both I-91 and the scenic Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkway provide travelers with an easy journey from all areas of the northeastern United States. The silver industry, notibly International Silver, Wallace and Rodgers, and Britannia; helped to build this region. The Wallingford Victorian Bed and Breakfast was built by one of the founders of International Silver as a wedding gift to his daughter. The town is also known as home to one of the reknown private boarding schools, Choate Rosemary Hall. Established in 1890 as Choate, an all boys school, the 400 acre campus now provides for over 800 co-ed students. The Wallingford Victorian Bed and Breakfast sits between Choate campus to the north and the quaint downtown to the south. Historic buildings gathered around the town green now house restaurants, antique and specialty shops, and service businesses. A new day spa has recently opened. Near the edge of town an old "theatre in the round" now offers state of the art facilities for national tour debuts by world reknown artists, and Broadway musicals. A winery recently opened its doors atop a rolling hillside with fantastic views. Wallingford is no longer just an easy stop along the way, it is a wonderful way to experience all that today has to offer, with the old fashioned look and feel of yesterday.
