Bed and Breakfast Inn Description

Located in the Historic District of Old Lyme, the Peck Tavern House offers the warm hospitality of a bygone era. Built in 1680, the Tavern, listed in The National Register of Historic Places, was used as an inn from the middle of the eighteenth century well into the nineteenth, serving those traveling the Boston Post Road by coach. Beamed ceilings, wide board floors, and the original sturdy corner beams in its rooms are reminders of the Tavern's early history. Swimming, tennis, and boating facilities are nearby and regional theaters abound. It is a short drive to the Essex Steam Train and Boat Ride; various seaonal charter boat trips, the charming villages of Essex, Chester and East Haddam. Mystic Seaport, the Mystic Marinelife Aquarium and the old fishing village of Stonington are among our favorite places to visit.
