Bed and Breakfast Inn Description

The Ranch House Bed and Breakfast is perfectly located just minutes north of Gunnison, Colorado at the entrance to the beautiful Ohio Creek Valley. Homesteaded in 1875, the Ranch House was originally a handhewn log cabin and the center of a large ranch operation on the banks of Ohio Creek. In 1941, Dan and Jesse Thornton purchased the ranch and raised the prize winning hereford cattle that put Gunnison's ranching industry on the map. The Thornton's success continued when Dan was elected Governor of colorado in 1950. Over the years the ranch has changed and the cattle can be seen in the distant pastures with horses occupying the nearby boarding stables. The Ranch House continues to reflect the past with its unique characteristics of the Victorian age and rustic country style.
