At the gateway to the Sierra Foothills, Lockeford is a California Landmark town established during the Gold Rush by New England physician Dean Jewett Locke. Restored landmarks in the town such as St. Joachim Chapel, Harmony Grove Church, Lockeford School and the Inn at Locke House Bed and Breakfast reflect the diverse origins of the town. The Inn at Locke House Bed and Breakfast is the restored and renovated home of the town founder. Antiques and memorabilia of the Locke family and descendant famed aeronautical engineer John W. Thorp are used in the decor of the inn.
