Los Angeles and Pasadena with its Arroyo Seco landscape. Death Valley with its grand views, desert flora and fauna, sand dunes, and lots of open area has been the scene of many a road trip movie. While being the hottest and lowest place in North America, it is also one of the most beautiful.
Route 1 highway hugs the California coast and with its twists and turns makes it a wonderful motorcyclists trip and the a bane for large RVers. A Type C RV might be OK with some of the hairpin turns but the Type A RVers will need to pass on this highway. With cliffs and rugged ocean vistas, the windswept trees, and the crashing waves, this is wilderness coast highway driving at its best.
The Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway will take you on highways from Oregon's Crater Lake National Park to California's Volcanic National Park. Volcanic landscapes will transport you into what appears like an ancient planet earth. Your road map will not prepare your for the sheer beauty and power of earths natural forces are apparent as you travel the stunning landscapes.
